The Alzheimer’s Association has just released it 2017 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and figures.  The report includes the following information:

  • In 2017, Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia cost the U.S. 259 billion;
  • Alzheimer’s Disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S.;
  • Alzheimer’s Disease kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined;
  • Since 2000, deaths from heart disease declined 14%, while deaths from Alzheimer’s Disease have increased by 89%.

Jerold E. Rothkoff, a practicing New Jersey and Pennsylvania attorney, is the Principal of the Rothkoff Law Group, an elder care law firm.
