It is no secret that navigating the long-term care system is an overwhelming process.
In New Jersey, there are 21 counties and each county has an Area Agency on Aging.
Services funded and available through the Area Agencies on Aging may include information and assistance, outreach, transportation, case management, homemaker, respite, telephone reassurance, legal assistance, education, and caregiver support, etc.
Meals provided in a group setting and delivered to the home are also available through the Area Agencies on Aging.
The Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) is a program to connect individuals and their caregivers with information and access to these long term services.
Rather than having to research the phone number for your particular Area Agency on Aging in your County, you can call the Aging and Disability Resource Connection toll-free at 1-877-222-3737.
In addition, New Jersey is one of very few states that offers two pharmaceutical assistance programs designed to help seniors with the cost of their prescription drugs, PAAD and Senior Gold.
Both programs are designed to work collaboratively with a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. Therefore, enrollment in a Part D plan is a requirement. Part D serves as the primary payer and Senior Gold or PAAD as the secondary payer
Our office is here as a resource to help you piece together these resources on the county and State level in New Jersey.
