Elder Law Committee Meeting @ Charlie Brown’s

Jane M. Fearn-Zimmer, Esq., attended the Gloucester County Elder Law Committee Meeting on January 10, 2017. Estate administration issues were discussed informally over a congenial lunch at Charley Brown’s in downtown Woodbury, with other attorneys practicing in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

NAWBO Mixer @ Girl Scouts of Central & Southern NJ

Jane M. Fearn-Zimmer, Esq. attended the New Jersey National Association of Women Business Owner’s networking event and mixer, held on Brace Road in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, at the office of the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey.  Women business owners from a variety of industries attended the event, which served to connect area business leaders with girl scout leadership and volunteer opportunities.  This very enjoyable event brought back fond memories of Jane’s days as a girl scout troop member growing up in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Brookdale Westampton & MVNA Warm Up

On January 12th, Jacinda Graham and Melanie Kaplan attended a ‘Winter Warm-Up’ at Brookdale Westampton hosted by Brookdale and Moorestown MVNA.  We had the opportunity to mix and mingle with other long term care professionals, while enjoying a delicious spread of hot chocolate, cookies, and other sweet treats.  Thank you to both Brookdale and MVNA for your hospitality!

Networking Event at Brookdale Evesham – Professional Headshots

What an original idea and an excellent opportunity to network!  On January 12th Kara Lee joined Brookdale at Evesham and other local health care professionals for networking and to have their professional headshot taken at their community.  The photographer was extremely helpful and patient.

CareOne at Evesham Service Project and Build A Bear Workshop

This past Monday, Martin Luther King Day, Janie, our Director of Care Coordination, traveled to CareOne at Evesham Assisted Living with Leonardo, her six year old son, to participate at CareOne at Evesham’s service project and Build-A-Bear workshop. At the beginning of the program, Leo signed get well cards  for patients at Kessler Rehabilitation. Later, Leo, along with about 25 children from the area, spent the remainder of the event participating in the Build-a-Bear Workshop.  After the event, Janie took Leo to visit several Rothkoff clients, who have been longtime residents of CareOne at Evesham Assisted Living.

Washington Township Senior Living hosted a Spa Networking Event

An evening of relaxation spent with professional friends report Kara Lee.  Washington Township Senior Living hosted a spa event on January 18th for professional partners and friends.  There was a choice of massage, reiki, and a class on stress relief and meditation.  After we enjoyed our  massage, reiki and stress relief we indulged in appetizers and drinks prepared by the WTSL chef.

GCNC After Party at Atrium

This “after the holidays party” was hilarious and an opportunity to re gift a bad gift you received over the holidays.  Another great idea for networking!  Everyone left with a gift to talk about and plenty of funny stories to share.

Happy Hour at BrightView Mt. Laurel- Meet the ED

On January 26th,  Jacinda Graham attended Brightview Mt. Laurel’s ‘Meet the ED’ happy hour in order to officially welcome Lavanda Clinkscales to the Brightview Mt. Laurel family.  Brightview offered guests an opportunity to network while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.  In addition, they offered everyone a chance to ‘try their lock’ by randomly passing out keys in order to win amazing prizes, including a 60 inch television.  Thank you to Brightview for their generosity, and congratulations to Lavanda on her new community!

Burlington County Bar Association’s Winter Soiree – Women in the Profession Committee @ Braddock’s Tavern in Medford, NJ

Jane M. Fearn-Zimmer, Esquire enjoyed an heartwarming evening with her female colleagues from the Burlington County Bar Association’s Women in the Profession Committee at Braddock’s Tavern in Medford, New Jersey, on the evening of Thursday, January 26, 2017. The attorneys gathered to honor Reema Hindawi-Scaramella, Esquire, for her 17 years of service and dedication to the Burlington County Bar Association.

Seminar for Residents, Family and General Public at Sunrise Dresher
“Estate Planning Checkup: Docs Needed to Avoid a Crisis”

At Sunrise Dresher, 15 individuals, including long term care professionals and local community members, attended a presentation on Estate Planning Documents Needed to Avoid a Crisis given by Bryan Adler, Esq.  He discussed the importance of having a Will, Financial Power of Attorney, Healthcare Power of Attorney, and Advance Directives.

CEU wth Alliare AT Cooper Hospital on “Ethics of End of Life Care”

Rothkoff Law Group and Allaire Rehab and Nursing hosted a CEU seminar at Cooper Hospital on January 17th with 30 social workers and case managers in attendance.  Mr Rothkoff spoke on the ethics of end of life care, a topic which held everyone’s attention.  He also spoke about his trip to the Netherlands and the differences in end of life care there and here.

Seminar: Dilemmas of Dementia – Laurel Creek Country Club, Moorestown, NJ

Jane M.  Fearn-Zimmer, Esq. chaired “The Dilemmas of Dementia – Elder Care Event,” on January 19, 2017. This event featured a breakfast meeting coordinated through the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern New Jersey at the Laurel Creek Country Club, Moorestown. Featured speakers were Steven J. Silverberg, Esquire, and Barry Kardos, Ph.D. Dr. Kardos discussed the clinical presentation of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, the different causes of dementias, and understanding brain traumas and their resulting symptoms and prognoses. Mr. Silverberg instructed the attendees regarding Qualified Longevity Annuity Contracts (QLAC’s), which are new investment options for IRA accounts to facilitate income deferral until age 85.  Over sixty professionals from the accounting, financial planning, legal, real estate, and long-term care industries attended the event, which was co-sponsored by the Rothkoff Law Group, Wells Fargo The Private Bank of Princeton, New Jersey, Lifespan Care Management, LLC and Virtua for Life.

CEU Seminar at Crozer-Chester Medical Center on “The Ethics of End of Life Care” 

On January 24th Bryan Adler presented “The Ethics of End of Life Care at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in PA.  Kara Lee and Melanie Kaplan also attended along with 15 social workers and case managers.  Thank you to Acuity Specialty Hospital of New Jersey for being a co-host.

Kara is the Outreach Coordinator with the Rothkoff Law Group, and elder care law firm. Kara brings over 15 years of experience working with the elderly. Kara has the ability to build relationships with area long-term care providers is critical in ensuring that our clients are made aware of the many resources that are available to them.

Kara graduated from the York College of Pennsylvania. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, taking vacations, scuba diving, and skiing. She is also an active volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association.
