In my role as a Geriatric Care Coordinator with Rothkoff Law Group, I am fortunate to be able to assist clients and families with a myriad of complex issues.  Approximately one month ago, I assisted a client with filing two appeals for rehabilitation denials from her insurance company.

Not only did the client win the appeal at the hospital level, but also at the sub-acute rehabilitation level.  This resulted in the decisions being overturned in both settings, allowing rehabilitation at both levels, covered by insurance.

If you have not yet made the important decision to retain an elder law firm (employing care coordinators to assist with issues such as these), and are currently facing an insurance denial, you may want to consider the Center for Medicare Advocacy.  The website offers free self help packets for appeals, as well as advocacy tips, and other valuable resources.  Find it at www.medicareadvocacy.org.
