November is often known as a time of reflection and gratitude. This month our team spent time supporting our professional partners at happy hours, events and seminars. Care One Harmony Village Harvest Happy Hour-festive fall drinks and food-got to tour the community and discuss memory care placement within the four neighborhoods, for residents with similar levels of cognitive impairment. In attendance, Jacinda Graham and Jerry Rothkoff.

Kathleen attended a Meet & Greet with Sunrise Abington’s New Memory Care Coordinator

Kathleen Magee traveled to the Sunrise of Abington community to welcome their new memory care coordinator, Denise Sanchez.  The event was held in their beautiful reminiscence community.  Sunrise offered a great buffet of hors d’euvres while giving us the opportunity to reconnect with Denise as she transitions into her new role.

The Birches: You’re So Awesome Party with Bryan and Kathleen

Kathleen Magee attended The Birches: You’re So Awesome Party at Uno’s in Neshaminy.  The well-attended event was laid back and allowed everyone to socialize in a more relaxed environment over great food and drinks. Everyone was given nametags that identified themselves other than their first and last names – Kathleen was “peachy.”

Artis Grand Opening:  This was a great event celebrating the grand opening of Artis.  The administration invited professional partner for drinks, made to order appetizers, and socializing.

Kara and Jacinda attend Helene’s 17 yr Anniversary Party at Cherry Hill Senior Living

Cherry Hill Senior Living honored Helene Weinstein’s 17 years of service at their community.  She was the original marketing director and has been there since the doors opened.   delicious pumpkin martinis, Amazing spread!!!  Many professional friends attended to congratulate Helene and wish her many more years.

Jacinda and Kara attended Annual Thanksgiving Pie Event at Brightview Mt. Laurel

Jacinda Graham and Kara Lee attended Brightview of Mt. Laurel wonderful Thanksgiving Pie event.  Guests were able to taste yummy pies from local Johnson’s Farm paired with wine and other delectable appetizers.

Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Cinnaminson Center with Janie De Leon-Male

On November 23, Janie traveled to Cinnaminson Center to support several of our Veteran client residents at Cinnaminson Center, as they were recognized by Cinnaminson Center and several local Veterans’ organizations for their service.

CEU Seminar CH Library “The Ethics of End of Life Care Professional Boundaries to Consider”

At this CEU seminar we discussed “The Ethics of End of Life Care Professional Boundaries to Consider” .  The attendees included social workers, administrators, and other long term care professionals.  We were able to answer questions and engage in conversation about this important topic.  This seminar concluded our 2016 CEU seminar series at the Cherry Hill Public Library – our 2017 schedule will be published shortly, please visit our website to register online.

CEU Dinner Seminar Location  The Brick Hotel “PA & NJ: Elder Law Across State Lines”

This CEU dinner was in a new location with Bryan Adler, Esq.  A smaller group but many new faces.  It was an evening of fun with an energetic group and great questions.

Dinner CEU with Barclay’s at Lamberti’s “The Ethics of End of Life Care”

On November 3, Janie, Jerry, and Jacinda supported an event sponsored by Barclay’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Laurel Manor  at Caffee Aldo Lamberti in Cherry Hill. Mr. Rothkoff spoke on the “The Ethics of End of Life Care” to a full room of hospital social workers, case managers, assisted living administrators, and nursing home administrators.

CEU Breakfast Seminar in Trevose, PA “Veterans Services Available for Elder & Disabled Clients”

Breakfast Seminar Trevose:  We hosted a group of about 20 professionals attended to learn about and discuss Veterans Benefits to fund long term care.  We discussed Aid and Attendance, service related disability pensions, and VA Homes.

CEU at Lankenau Hospital Elder Law Hot Topics: What’s New with Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans Benefits

Lankenau Hospital CE: About 20 social workers from Lankenau Hospital attended a CE seminar on Elder Law hot topics.  We discussed upcoming changes to Medicaid, VA benefits, and Medicare.

November Caregiver Support Group

Kathleen and Jen hosted the monthly caregiver support group on Monday, November 14 2016.  We welcomed fellow-social worker Reva Farenback-Brateman of Jewish Family and Children’s Services as they keynote speaker.  Reva offered a great amount of resources about JFCS to our attendees.  In addition to discussing her services, Reva was able to use her experience in hosting support groups to join our conversation and offer her support to surrounding the issues and burdens individuals experience as caregivers.

Kara is the Outreach Coordinator with the Rothkoff Law Group, and elder care law firm. Kara brings over 15 years of experience working with the elderly. Kara has the ability to build relationships with area long-term care providers is critical in ensuring that our clients are made aware of the many resources that are available to them. Kara graduated from the York College of Pennsylvania. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, taking vacations, scuba diving, and skiing. She is also an active volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association.
