As we deal with the day-to-day issues of managing a law firm and providing elder care law services for clients and their loved ones, we sometimes unintentionally forget why we do what we do. It is a natural human reaction to address the here and now before you. Our focus as an elder care law firm is to ensure our clients receive the best care possible, determine how care can be reasonably paid for, and ease the burden on the caregiver family member.
We received a handwritten note via mail from the child of a recently deceased client. We have been working with the client and her family since 2017. Our elder care law office assisted with designing an asset protection plan, ongoing care advocacy in a long-term care setting via our elder care coordinators and health insurance advocate, updating estate planning documents, and submission of the long-term care insurance claim. A few weeks after our client’s passing, we received the below note from the client’s daughter:
Dear Jerry: I would like to thank you for the memorial gift in Mom’s name made to Twilight Wish Foundation. Your sincere dedication to seniors goes beyond “business” – it displays a heart that cares because caring is needed. Mom was one to look out for others and seek ways to make lives better – and so your gift greatly honors her. Thank you for being there for Mom and for us.
Reading this note helped remind me why we do what we do daily providing elder care law services to our clients and their loved ones. It is a privilege and honor to assist families like this. Thank you to our client’s daughter for her kind words and for reminding me why I practice elder care law.
