We invite you to join our team, Love 4 Lois, for the Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA.

Every year, thousands of Americans lace up for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s—the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Since 2018, our team has been walking in honor of my mother, Lois, Rothkoff Law Group’s dear friend, and former co-worker, who is living with this disease.

On October 21, 2021, Dr. Jason Karlawish—Professor of Medicine, Medical Ethics & Health Policy, and Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania and Co-Director of the Penn Memory Center—discussed the widespread impact of Alzheimer’s during his keynote address to over 300 attendees at Rothkoff Law Group’s Virtual Elder Care Symposium. In his book, The Problem of Alzheimer’s: How Science, Culture, and Politics Turned a Rare Disease into a Crisis and What We Can Do About It, Dr. Karlawish states the disease creates “not one but two patients.” Patient one is the individual with Alzheimer’s and patient two is the caregiver—and in most cases, there are many caregivers.

Lois has been in hospice care at home since January 2020. There are caregivers, aides, and a nurse that visit and take care of her daily. I am fortunate to be able to rely on the elder care attorneys and elder care coordinators here at Rothkoff Law Group. They provide me with the support, guidance, and care that they provide to our clients, offering suggestions for specialized services and products to better care for my mom.

As the Director of Community Education for Rothkoff Law Group, I believe that knowledge is power. Raising awareness for Alzheimer’s and planning for the future can help other families avoid many of the struggles I have experienced as my mother’s health rapidly declined.
Together we can make a difference. I encourage you to walk with us or donate to support the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association to accelerate global research, drive risk reduction and early detection, and maximize quality care and support.

Join the Rothkoff Law Group – Love for Lois team in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
